"Our aim was to crack the Top 5, since we knew we were at a disadvantage with regard to the Minis. Our car was designed based on the future rules, so we had a power deficit compared with them, especially on sandy surfaces. But our car was completely reliable and our team did a fantastic job. This is an excellent result, finishing on the podium on our first try tastes like a win. The rules are going to change next year, so we'll be even closer and the battle will be awesome. There's no doubt we'll try and win next year."

RE: Friday Avie Club - Thank You

Attention: David Ayres

It is with the generous spirit of Capetonians that we are once again warming the hearts and lives of those at TLC Outreach Projects and living in the informal surrounding settlements.

Your donation of a Lexmark Printer/Copier/Scan/Fax is greatly appreciated by our organization and the underprivileged children. It is also a real blessing to us when people generously give. The feeling it leaves with us as a N.G.O Organisation, is that we are cared for and appreciated and in turn, our children can appropriately be cared for as well.

From all at the T.L.C Outreach Project, a very special thank you for your wonderful spirit of sharing and giving. Together we have made a difference in our children’s lives.

Kind regards,

MICHELLE MARSDEN-McLEOD

So the date is set for the first Friday Avie camping trip for this year. Its the 25th - 27th of Feb at Kleintafelberg. There are 4 chalets and we can accommodate 25 members 4x4's for that weekend.

Since the club is more than 30 strong we will make up the numbers quickly. To book please contact the Trail owners directly (details on their website http://www.kleintafelberg4x4.co.za/4x4/). Mention that you are with the club. Club members first, and if there is space left we can invite friends and family.

There has been a suggestion for a potjiekos on the Saturday, after the trail, but that can be finalized when we have the numbers of who is attending.

There is a pool for those concerned about Feb's heat.

Any queries can be emailed to me at fridayavie@gmail.com

Cheers

Charity Event

posted 12 Oct 2009, 17:34 by Neil Kelsall   [ updated 10 Jan 2011, 10:12 ]

As part of our social responsibility program, our club sponsored & facilitated a charity event at Atlantis dunes, for some of the local children. Here is a thank-you letter received.

Dear Friday Arvie club

RE: 4x4 Outing to the dunes in Atlantis on the 6th of November 2010

There are not enough words to thank the members of the Arvie 4x4 club
for the amazing daytrip you organized for the children of Atlantis. Not
only were the rides in the dunes great, but I was impressed by all the
preparations that went into this day.

The food and snacks were delicious – the kids could not get enough!

The gazebos supplied a lot of shade and protection from the sun, and the standard of safety you set while on
this outing, both at the rest site, and while driving is really an example
to all.

Also a huge thanks to Morne for the dune surfing
http://www.sandboarder.biz/, this was also a highlight!

Most of all, to all of you who participated in the day, I hope that you
got as much pleasure out of this outing as the children - they could
not stop talking how much they enjoyed it afterwards!

Yours sincerely,

Inge Boonzaier
